Bees are one of my favorite insects. Not only for the honey they produce but the buzzing sound they make when traveling from blossom to blossom to collect pollen.  The nature center is in a corner of my classroom which looks out into the garden. I got these logs to show the kids when we were talking about trees. They ended up being great seats. The logs fit well with the repurposed train table, but need trimmed a bit.  Found this cute log with 2 secret drawers at a Christmas Show. Any child would love to play with it. It makes a perfect place

The clear sky and 24 degrees made it a perfect evening to take a mini hike at the botanical gardens with my daughter and her cousins. We enjoyed hot drinks, a warm fire, then walked up the hill for a view of the lights. This structure has a garden on top. At the top of the hill............. It makes you feel good to get outside!

Late one night in August we were at the fair. There was a agriculture tent with fun interactive devices. Yes, I'm the sheep. My kids are older and were not with us. I need a picture of some vegetable kids!!!!  This would be another fun harvest fesitval activity.

Sunflowers are blooming and sunflower seeds are being harvested this time of the year. Children love to pick the seeds from the sunflower heads.  This project is fun to do with children ---- Glue a sunflower seed on first page. This is the time of the year to press flowers, leaves and gather seeds. One of my pre-k classes made this botanical window hanging many years ago. Contact paper was rolled out on the table. Sticky side up, the children sprinkled seeds and placed botanicals on to the contact paper. Then I layed another sheet on top. That's the tricky part. A purple colored masking tape was put around the edges.

When my family and I visited an Oregon coastal town, we came across different ocean themed designs like this one which were cemented into the main sidewalk. There were many city blocks on the main street that had them. The children loved to locate one then keep walking until they discover the next new creation. (Me too.)

When my pre-k class is learning about the oceanand the creatures in it they get so excited. Here is a matching game I made with some shells that were given to me. I took smaller shells and glued 2 of the same type in 8 different shells, so there are four matches. Add the names of the matching shells for more discussion. Store them in a large shell.

I found these 10 handmade wood outlet plates at a thrift store and couldn't pass them up. Now what do I do with them? Domino's, of course. I cut different color foam pieces that I had in my craft stash for each end of the plate. I made sure the colors were matched up end to end then glued the foam pieces to the back. Plastic outlet plates should work also. Maybe you can find some laying around
