While visiting Southern California last month I was relaxing in my brothers backyard and eyed a tree with purple flowers. 

On the ground below there were dropped flowers with seed pods among them.

Bees are one of my favorite insects. Not only for the honey they produce but the buzzing sound they make when traveling from blossom to blossom to collect pollen. 




To make the bees cut a yellow and a dark brown 12 inch pipe cleaner in half. Hold one of each of the 6 inch colors together and twist around a fat pen.

The clear sky and 24 degrees made it a perfect evening to take a mini hike at the botanical gardens with my daughter and her cousins. We enjoyed hot drinks, a warm fire, then walked up the hill for a view of the lights.

This is the time of the year to press flowers, leaves and gather seeds. One of my pre-k classes made this botanical window hanging many years ago. Contact paper was rolled out on the table. Sticky side up, the children sprinkled seeds and placed botanicals on to the contact paper. Then I layed another sheet on top. When my pre-k class is learning about the oceanand the creatures in it they get so excited.
Here is a matching game I made with some shells that were given to me. I took smaller shells and glued 2 of the same type in 8 different shells, so there are four matches. Add the names of the matching shells for more discussion. Now what do I do with them? Domino's, of course. I cut different color foam pieces that I had in my craft stash for each end of the plate.
